Associate Attorney | Family Law

Laura Nelson is an Associate Attorney with Bishop Law, P.C., where she focuses her practice on Utah family law. She represents clients in divorce, child custody, parent-time, paternity, child support, alimony, protective orders, modifications, and other domestic-relations matters. Laura is dedicated to providing compassionate counsel, practical solutions, and strong advocacy during some of life’s most challenging transitions.

Laura graduated magna cum laude from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, earning both a Law and Business Certificate and a Certificate in Conflict Resolution: Theory and Practice. Her legal education included advanced training in negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution—skills that help clients pursue practical resolutions while remaining prepared for litigation when necessary.

Before law school, Laura earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Marriage, Family and Human Development from Brigham Young University. Her graduate studies focused on family relationships and parental financial support, giving her additional perspective on the emotional, practical, and financial issues that arise in divorce and custody disputes.

Laura also brings extensive leadership and mentoring experience through TeamTRI, where her work has included youth leadership development, business development, coaching, training, and organizational support. She previously practiced as an Associate Attorney with Coillaw from December 2024 through November 2025.

A Davis County resident for more than ten years and the mother of four children, Laura understands that family-law cases involve far more than legal rules. She works to give clients clear guidance, thoughtful strategy, and effective advocacy focused on protecting their families and their future.
